Ken's Bio

Ken studied photography at Southern Illinois University and UCLA and has studied with such Photoshop gurus as Ben Wilmore and Scott Kelby.  Ken has used his photography and digital imaging skills for such companies as Oracle, J. D. Edwards, PeopleSoft, Great West Life, Health Dialog, and Vicon Motion Systems.  He has designed posters, postcards, and magazine ads for galleries and theaters in Denver. 

 

In 2003 Ken founded Before/After a photo restoration business where he restored old and damaged photos for clients.  One of his restorations was included in Adobe Photoshop Restoration & Retouching (Second Edition) by Katrin Eismann.  Ms Eismann is considered one of the top Photoshop professionals in the country and was Chair of the Masters in Digital Photography Program at the School of Visual Arts in NYC. 

 

Ken’s digital art has been seen in juried shows in Denver at such galleries as the Space Gallery, CORE New Art Space, the Lakewood Arts Council’s Black and White show, Next Gallery (where his works “Universe” and “Dianna SXV2267”won Best in Show awards), Photographers Gallery, Tenn Street Coffee & Books/Gallery (where his work “Bleacher Bums” won Best in Show), Circle 8 Gallery (two man show), Artists on Santa Fe (Artist of the Month), Gallery Obscura, Edge Gallery, and the Curtis Art Center. His work has also been seen at Kanon Collective in their annual Bibelot Show; at Redline in their One Square Foot show and their May 2014 Intersection show.  His work “Golden Rain” was juried into the Abstract show on ExhibtionsWithoutWalls.com. In addition, his print “Big Bang” was selected to participate in the 1st ScienceOnline Science Art Show. 

 

Ken’s work “Sprites” was juried into the Denver Modernism show and his work, Speed Racer #2 was juried into the Littleton Museum’s Eye of the Camera Exhibition and into the Bike Art show at the Dairy Center for the Arts in Boulder in December 2013.  Ken’s photograph, “Mr. Estrada”, was juried into T. Bell Photographic Studio|Gallery’s 2016 Month of Photography “It's all here in black and white” show catalog. Ken's work "Q6" was juried into the Boulder Art Association's 2016 Labor Day weekend art show. Ken's Smartphone Art, "Ancient Ones", "Legs", and "Beams" was juried into Spark Gallery's Smartphone Art Show. In 2021, Ken's art work El Cuenco #10 was  juried into the Littleton Museum's "Own an Original" show, and his art work was purchased by the Littleton Fine Arts Board and will be in the Littleton Museum's permanent collection. In December 2020, Ken's work Isolation of Red 1 was juried into the Boulder, CO R Gallery's Circles and Squares show and in January his work Into the Wild was juried into their Negative Space show. Ken abstract piece Sprites was juried into the Alternative Facts: Photography by Any Means show at the PACE Center, Aurora, Colorado. Ken's work "Dotsy is Here" was recently juried into the Human Faces and Figures 2022 - Online Exhibition at the Las Laguna Art Gallery in Laguna Beach, CA. 

 

Ken was a member of the Artists on Santa Fe Gallery, Next Gallery, and Kanon Collective in Denver. Ken's work was also seen at the Color and Light Gallery in Madrid, New Mexico, until its recent closure.
